Since the 18th century, the Swiss government began placing thousands of fire hydrants at strategic locations throughout the country to ensure access to firefighting water in the event of an emergency.
Each of these hydrants is registered and given an identification number. After 15-25 years on the front line, the hydrants are melted down and replaced. But we believe hydrants shouldn't just disappear and be forgotten...
With the idea in 2006 to give these hydrants a second life, we used their numbers and screwed them together as belt buckles. Each hydrant was a part of Swiss history, and each buckle has developed its own unique story over the years. This story now continues...

About the belt lengths:
For belts, the total length is measured. Measure your hip circumference and add 10 cm – then choose your length as follows:

Hip circumference plus 10 cm

Hip circumference 80 cm / total length 90 cm (W28-29)
Hip circumference 90 cm / total length 100 cm (W30-31)
Hip circumference 100 cm / total length 110 cm (W32-33)
Hip circumference 110 cm / total length 120 cm (W34-35)
Hip circumference 120 cm / total length 130 cm (W36-37)
Hip circumference 130 cm / total length 140 cm (W38)

For orders over CHF 75.00, shipping is free.
Delivery time: The delivery time is normally 1 - 3 working days.
5-7 days for specialty handcrafted and niche products. If a product is out of stock at one of our suppliers, we will immediately reorder it. This may take a little longer. For deliveries scheduled at short notice at the customer's request, we charge an additional preferential treatment fee of CHF 20.00, excluding the express fee. Information regarding the expected delivery time is non-binding unless Protaris AG has given the customer a binding written commitment for the specific case.
